On the northern side of the island are Hanalei Bay and Kee Beach with its sparkling turquoise waters that are perfect for snorkeling or diving. Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge is also located on the northern part of the island and is a great place for bird watching. Continuing counterclockwise around the island’s perimeter, the slower paced west side is great for camping and boat tours, while the south shore of Kauai is home to the Koloa Mill town and sugar plantation and Poipu Beach Resort.
